about the puzzled press
Welcome to The Puzzled Press, the imprint representing artists’ books, fine press work, zines, and other ephemeral artwork created or produced by Gina Louise Fowler. The Puzzled Press also publishes collaborative projects with other artists, writers, and creators and is constantly interested in pushing the boundaries of artists’ books and publishing.
Fowler currently lives and works in New York, NY, but retains deep ties to Bozeman, Montana and Columbia, SC. Their recent work has focused primarily on abstract interpretation of women’s literature and exploring intersections between place and memory, as well as considering the ways in which the physical and emotional space that we take up in the world impacts our lives.
In 2024, The Puzzled Press anticipates the release of several new artists’ books, two collaborative zine projects, and one major book collaboration. In addition, Fowler is currently working on a collection of poetry and short form essays.
Founded in 2018, The Puzzled Press has followed Fowler through her journey as an amateur bookbinder and emerging book artist all the way through an MFA in Book Arts. Currently, their focus lies on the production of artists’ books and collaborative, though they are open to custom bookbinding or printing work on a case-by-case basis.
Work by Gina Louise Fowler as The Puzzled Press can be found in special collections at universities and museums across the country, including at Bainbridge Island Museum of Art, Cleveland Institute of Art, Baylor University, University of Miami, and Emory University.
If you are interested in a collaborative project, producing a fine press edition of your writing, or just talking about books and art, please reach out on social media or via email: @thepuzzledpress or thepuzzledpress@gmail.com.
